Considerable Fuel Savings
Energotest fuel consumption tests were conducted on open roof semi-trailers, covered and uncovered. The tests' results demonstrated a 14.93% fuel economy when the semi-trailer was covered with the ElCargo mechanical tarp system, compared with the uncovered semi-trailer test results. Those tests were conducted in September 2009, during Energotest 4th edition at Transport Canada's Motor Vehicle Test Centre facility in Blainville.
“We already knew that installing one of our mechanical tarp systems would bring fuel consumption savings,” says ElCargo Fabrication Inc.'s president Réal Royer. “Our customers were mentioning this often and were talking of surprising fuel economy. However, we didn't have any scientific proof to support our customers' claims. That's what prompted us to participate to the Energotest project.”
Test results were very conclusive. They now enable us to claim that using one of our mechanical tarp systems will bring in fuel savings of almost 15%. With this proof on hand, we have been able to launch an exclusive ElCargo program, Eco environmental.
